One thing you probably didn't know about Rod Begbie
How many other Scots Red Sox fans do you know?
After subscribing to Rod’s snarky blog for about six months, I kept running into him at the Boston WebInno meetups, where he hurled snark from the back of the room in his unmistakable accent. We’ve since started a joint blogging project with fellow WebInno contrarian glenn mcdonald.

Met him at ETech, enjoyed his EFF talk, and danced an internal jig of pride when he told me he subscribed to my blog.
Andy was sat behind me during a session at ETech. I didn’t realise it was him at the time (I didn’t hear his name, just that he worked for upcoming.org), but I later put it together—not least because he’d remembered a relatively obscure piece of Penn & Teller trivia.
Monkey man will make you believe.
When he asked a question during my talk at ETech I called him Duncan not once but twice. (I think I got away with it, though.)
We ended up sat next to each other at lunch at ETech, after knowing each other ten years ago on uk.media.tv.misc!
because every damn recommendation system I use reckons we have identical tastes, and I want to prove them wrong ;)
After a year of near misses, we finally converged in meatspace at the “Web Innovators and Wankers” meetup in Boston.
Unfortunately noise level + rabid Sloan students made real conversation difficult, but we did do a bit of MST3K VC style.
